ordinary days

I hadn't meant to be away for long. School holidays came and went. Although I was home, and it was both enjoyable and busy, unfortunately any well meaning intentions to blog flew out the window. Then I lost the internet for a week. Strangely enough I think it was what I really needed. I started and finished a novel. The house looked tidier than it had in years. I did some sewing. I started a new knitting project. I felt so productive. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learnt from that week.

I think the hardest part about coming back to a blog when you've been away is breaking the ice again.

So I'll let the pictures do the talking today, just so that I can ease myself back into it.

The fire is on and a white fog envelopes everything outside. Ugg boots and an op shopped polyester fleece dressing gown are keeping me nice and cosy as I type. Dirty floors and extra washing are inevitable after the weekend. Which reminds me that the flannel sheets need to go on the bed today. It looks like today will be an ordinary day of cleaning up after the weekend. Ordinary, but good, I hope.

I found this little assortment outside. The girls must have picked them and left them there.

Valley view.

School holiday soup lunch.

Painting with cut potatoes.

Pretty compost.

Holiday reading from my own childhood books.

From the garden.

Baking.

As above.

May your day be an ordinarily good one too. See you soon.

  1. Hello! Lovely to see you back. It's nice that our blogs are always just waiting until we are ready for them.

Yes indeed, looking forward to an ordinary day of pottering around the house today too, sorting out the last few boxes in my studio, getting the laundry up to date and having a rest when Emerson does.

Not looking forward to my last thyroid specialist appointment today at the hospital, where I am sure they are going to want to do a whole lot more tests and try to talk me in to a cesarean.

    xx

  3. Lovely to see you back Tania. Your blog is one of my favorites. Sometimes I think it would be good to stay away from the computer because I'd get so much more done, but as a stay at home mum I love the connection. I love your photos. They make me feel peaceful. Hope you have a great week. xxoo

  4. Lovely valley photo...stunning colours. And I especially like the photo of your daughter baking, takes me back to when our children were young and wanted to help in the kitchen.

  6. What a lovely surprise. Your valley is magnificent. Wow the little one is a "big" one now. Funny, I've been switching off the computer and reading novels too even though I am more of a non-fiction reader. You are one of my favourite blogs too. Fingers crossed for a warm and sick free winter. All the best.

  7. See how much wee readers miss you! Always lovely to see a post from you pop up in my blog roll. I can't believe how big Violet is getting not a baby anymore. I relish my Monday mornings now, a chance to tidy up from the weekend and get ready for the week ahead. Flannelette sheets went on the beds last week and I cleaned the fireplace out yesterday. It is starting to really feel like winter is on its way. Elaina xo

  10. Great to hear from you again, Tania!
Blogging is a bit like when you haven't made an effort to catch up with friends - you feel a bit funny when you finally ring them, as if you've 'blanked' them! But never fear, your posts and pics are always delightful to read no matter how many or few there are. Life does come first after all!!
    Enjoy your days…all of them!
