finished

neat look
messy look

I stayed up a little late last night to get this week-long cover finished. I sometimes feel that this late night fatigue shows up in the quality of the work. Or lack thereof. Lot's of non matching corners, but somehow I think I can live with that. But I am still rather happy with it's bright and cheerful assortment of colour and pattern. All I need to do now is attach some press studs to the opening. Then I can breathe a sigh of relief that one more project on my long, unwritten list, is ticked off.

For those crazy enough to try a similar project (I'm not sure I ever want to see a patchwork square again, but don't hold me to that) I cut out 5 inch squares of vintage sheeting and backed it with a queen sized sheet. I needed to cut it down slightly but it seems to fit the doona quite well. No quilting involved as it's just a cover.

I'm thinking that I need to tackle a one-afternoon,  quick gratification project next. I have a fear of longer term projects, in that I will put a project aside for the night, and never pick it up again. Thus banishing it to the basket of unfinished projects. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hoping your week is treating you well.

  2. Tania you are a legend!! This is truely gorgeous...I have doona cover envy :)

I am so guilty of starting projects and putting them down. I have dozens of things waiting completion and have managed to get some of them done these holidays.

  3. It really doesn't matter how long it took you or what crazy hour of the night it was sewn because it is STUNNING!!!!! Really gorgeous.

  4. I love it!! I wish I had such an extensive collection of vintage sheets so I could make one too - I think I'll have to step up my thrifting efforts! I too have more unfinished projects than I'd care to admit!

  9. Stunning Tania, the blues and yellows really stand out,it's so pretty, you must be chuffed. I've made loads of square cut quilts where the corners don't match, you don't even notice.

  10. Oh! How beautiful! And you did it so quickly! It took me months to finish my little picnic/spare bed blanket. I tend to always have lots of projects on the go at once and pick them up or put them away depending on my mood, how much time I have etc.

There are however a couple of long term projects that have been picked up a few times, but remain in the cupboard still for now...

  12. I love it too, beautiful use of colour/pattern. I too would much rather finish something than have it perfect but incomplete for a year. Having said that I have been percolating a blog post just today about a zillion unfinished projects. Am tempted to ban myself from op shopping until I complete something but not sure if I have the strength to follow through. Mel:)

  23. Unfinished projects? Too many to mention!

Your cover is certainly one project that deserved to be finished. Beautiful. Now at least you can sleep away all the late nights it took to make it underneath it.
